La trentaine, Jérôme Sahyoun dit “Jers” est en phase de devenir une figure marquante du surf au Maroc, par sa frénésie exploratrice des vagues de son pays. Né à Casablanca, Jers est passionné de surf et fait ses premiers pas dans les vagues de Oualidia ainsi que dans le sud marocain où la rencontre avec Ross Clark Jones, au line up de Safi, lui fait comprendre que la trajectoire du tube va être celle de sa vie. Jers, permis de conduire en poche, prend le volant à ses 18 ans et fait de la longue côte marocaine le terrain de sa quête et de ses aventures. Avec lui, ses planches de surf, son matériel de pèche sous-marine lui permettent de passer du temps dans l’océan. Jers, passionné de chasse au sanglier, passe aussi beaucoup de temps dans l’Atlas quand il n’est pas à rouler entre le macadam des grandes routes et les pistes menant aux vagues.
The age of thirty, Jérôme Sahyoun ‘’JERS ‘’ is becoming a prominent Moroccan surfing figure, with his frenzy exploratory waves of his country. Born in Casablanca, Jers avid surfer takes his first steps into the waves of Oualidia and in southern Morocco where he met Ross Clark Jones, in the line up of the mythic wave in Safi and understood that long barrels will be the goal of his journey . Driver’s license in hand at 18, Jers takes the wheel and made the long Moroccan coast his play ground and a search for virgin waves, his surfboards and fishing gear always with him, all what he need to spend time in the ocean and his shotgun because he is also passionate about hunting wild boar. the search is on 70 000 km driven each year and followed for the past 3 years by Fred berho and band-original team crossing the globe with him to hunt the best swells and capture the best pictures with their RED ONE camera . looking for virgin waves where he found it at the edge of the desert, where sand and access permissions are hard . Where it is not good to forget his water or his sandwich, but where the barrels are like no others. With the authenticity of the adventurer hyper active personality, Jers also like to share. he brings with him to his magic wave Moroccan and Europeans surfers that became friends over his trips all over Europe where he met photographer Gregory Rabejac with who he shares great images. Then Gregory introduce him to Asier Muniain and this is where the adventure of the big tow-in surfing quickly became a complicity and confidence between the two men and perfected there tow-in techniques and on muntant waves Over the years Jers improved his trajectory in the barrels close to the best world surfers and made him on of the best in Morocco. Recently he went to Tahiti with Sancho to have a taste of the mythic wave, Teahupo. He has in front of him beautiful years to feel the depth of the blue cave and it’s his way to create a dynamic of surfing in morocco and an example of commitments and sharing that will benefit and influence many locals .
